Come see the Buzz!

Ever wonder what your child gets up to after getting dropped off in the morning? Here’s a breakdown of our morning routine in the morning and the fun that happens at Busy Bee from 8:30am to noon for ages 2-4!

8:30am: The fun begins!

Goooood morning! It’s drop-off time and children are encouraged to change their shoes and to take off their jackets by themselves. We sanitize hands and check temperatures. Coming to school on time also instills consistency with respect to routines for children.

8:30am-9:00am: Free play!

The first half hour is open for children to play with toys and with their friends at school. It is a great way to start using their gross motor skills with the many different toys we have at our centres.

9:00am-9:20am: Table Activity

Every morning we have a different table activity for children to do. This works their gross motor skills and allows them to focus on their activity while sitting at the table. Some of our fun activities include: Lego, blocks, puzzles, colouring and string beads.

9:20am: Attendance Time

When we call for attendance, we ask students to raise their hands and say they are present when their names are called. Many can recognize their names being called and can respond back. This is wonderful to watch as they start to work their listening skills in English!

9:25am-9:50am: Morning Circle Time

Our first circle time of the day includes songs, stories and rules. We discuss the days of the week, the months of the year, the weather and the monthly themes during circle time. We also remind students of our classroom rules such as listening and respecting other students and teachers.

9:50am-10:00am: Recess

Recess time! Children play and enjoy recess with toys and their friends. We encourage socializing and playing together.

10:00am-10:10am: Washroom Break

After recess, we use the washroom and wash our hands to get ready for snack time!

10:10am-10:25am: Snack Time

Snacks are provided, however, most students like to bring in their own snacks. We appreciate the healthy snacks that are given to your children such as fresh fruit and veggies. Great job, parents!

10:25am-10:45am: Art Time

Everyone loves art time! Here’s when we get to be messy and creative. We have themed art projects that help work gross motor skills and promote creative thinking. Many students look forward to painting and colouring and some are even able to cut and paste by themselves! The progress is really fantastic to see!

10:45am-11:10am: Free Play

Free play time allows students to play with their friends and to learn how to share toys. Socializing is very important for children and this time allows them the freedom to play together. Many students become fast friends during free play and we really enjoy watching them have fun! That’s what being a kid is all about!

11:10am-11:35am: Learning Centre

Our learning centres are different for each day of the week. On Mondays, we focus on letters and writing. Tuesdays are for math concepts and number recognition. Wednesdays are for story telling. Thursdays we have our science class and perform cool experiments for kids to see. Fridays we have implemented a new learning centre all about engineering. We build different structures with various kinds of materials and kids love this learning centre!

11:35am-11:50am: Mid-Day Circle Time

Our mid-day circle time focuses on sensory play. We incorporate activities and different objects to appeal to the five senses. Children get to be observers with magnifying glasses, cooks with food, dancers and dress-up princes and princesses.

11:50am-12:00pm: Washroom

Our washroom break before lunchtime happens at this time. Everyone is usually quite excited by noon for his or her yummy lunches and we also say good-bye to the half-day students.

Phew! The morning is jam-packed with a myriad of activities and time really does fly in the mornings. We hope your children have as much fun as we do with our morning routine!
