At Busy Bee, our curriculum incorporates different themes every week and we centre our art on those themes as well. Each theme allows us to discuss different topics throughout the year and introduce or reintroduce various concepts.
We explore essential topics such as seasons, transportation, animals, and nature. Kids benefit from learning about their immediate environment as well as the animals in it.
We also discuss themes closer to home such as family, household items, clothing, and emotions. This aids in their own understanding of daily life around them.
Our fun themes, related to games and music, allow kids to be kids and to use their creativity and imagination while playing and learning. In the past, our art projects have included making their own musical instruments and simple paper toys. These are wonderful ways to showcase these themes!
One of our favourite types of themes is about holidays and festivals we celebrate throughout the year. Many children enjoy making festive art projects related to those themes. We celebrate holidays and festivals such as Halloween, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. And of course, Children’s Day!
Themes are very important for our lessons at Busy Bee. Every week changes, so it keeps learning interesting, fun and exciting!
